Technical Guidance Being Provided To Farmers To Produce Export Quality Rice: Secy

LAHORE, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 3rd Jul, 2025) Punjab Agriculture Secretary Iftikhar Ali Sahoo said on Thursday said that the target for rice cultivation in the province had been set at 05 million acres for this year.

A meeting of the Provincial Rice Management Committee was held under the chairmanship of the secretary here.

He further added that a comprehensive strategy had been developed to improve the quality and yield of rice.

Additionally, technical guidance was being provided to farmers to produce rice that meets export standards, he said.

The secretary directed the preparation of a long-term strategy to increase rice exports.

He emphasized that modern mechanized harvesting of paddy was the need of the hour, adding that the Punjab government was facilitating farmers and stakeholders with access to high-tech machinery.

He further said that safe use of agricultural pesticides on the paddy crop was also being ensured. He remarked that the establishment of the ‘Eurofins Lab’ was a significant milestone towards boosting rice exports.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the Rice Exporters Association and other stakeholders.
