KARACHI: The Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) has supported efforts to expand rice exports to the Philippines, where Pakistan has offered to supply at least one million tonnes annually, subject to mutually agreed commercial terms.
The offer was made during the International World Rice Conference 2026, held in Manila from October 7-9, where more than 20 Pakistani companies participated with support from TDAP and the Pakistani embassy.
Pakistan exported about 300,000 tonnes of rice worth $117 million to the Philippines in July-September 2026, according to the embassy. Rice accounted for 75 per cent of Pakistan’s total exports to the country during the period, marking a record three-month volume, it said.
Pakistan’s ambassador told the conference that the country could support Philippine food security through regular rice supplies. A Pakistani trade official also presented opportunities for bilateral trade and agricultural cooperation.
Five Pakistani companies set up individual stalls at the event, alongside a national stall maintained by the embassy. Discussions focused on procurement requirements, product specifications, pricing and long-term supply arrangements.
