Nuon Pharath, the Governor of Kampong Thom Province, met with the owners of 12 rice mills at the Provincial Hall yesterday to discuss rice prices for farmers.

He highlighted that rice pricing is a common issue impacting farmers, middlemen, experts, and the provincial government.

Pharath urged all parties to collaborate on practical solutions to reduce the negative effects on farmers and the local economy.

He stressed that addressing the rice price issue requires medium- and long-term solutions, as short-term measures can only provide temporary relief. Sustainable solutions will require active participation from all stakeholders, particularly farmers.

Pharath urged rice mill owners to purchase rice at fair prices, ensuring a balance that benefits both farmers and mill owners.
