Shan State Chief Minister U Sai Htein Soe attended an activity of broadcasting fertilizer and the field demonstration held yesterday for the 60-acre test plot of Pawsan paddy for 2026 in the highland and lowland areas of Mongtum, Wamton village-tract, Monghsat Township, Shan State (East), where he observed and encouraged the operations and distributed agricultural inputs, including chemical and organic fertilizers, to local farmers.
As part of his regional inspection tour, the chief minister also reviewed the construction of the 220-foot Mongpun Bridge near milepost 4/153 on the Meiktila-Taunggyi-Kengtung-Tachilek road in Loilem District.
He later attended a field demonstration in Ahshey village-tract, Mongpan Township, where high-yield model plots of the market-demanded Pawsan and Basmati rice varieties are being tested to achieve target yields for the 2026 monsoon paddy season. Following the demonstration, fertilizers were distributed to local farmers.
The chief minister also inspected the ongoing concrete paving work on 8th Nawngpayin Street in Nawngpaing Ward, Mongton Township, which is being implemented under the 2026-2027 financial year Clean & Green Fund programme. — Mg Mg Than (Taungyi)/TH
