Rice stakeholders: TDAP raises awareness on aflatoxin prevention

GUJRANWALA: The Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP), in partnership with the Pest Warning and Quality Control of Pesticides Wing of the Agriculture Department, Government of Punjab, conducted an awareness seminar in Gujranwala to strengthen understanding of aflatoxin prevention and Maximum Residue Limits (MRLs) among stakeholders of the rice sector.
The seminar, held at the auditorium of the Gujranwala Chamber of Commerce, was the fifth session in a series of awareness programmes being organised in major rice-producing districts of Punjab. The initiative aims to enhance food safety practices, improve quality management, and facilitate compliance with international standards throughout Pakistan’s rice value chain.
Around 129 participants attended the programme, including rice growers and farmers, millers, exporters, agriculture extension officers, and other representatives of the rice industry. Technical experts and representatives from the Agriculture Department, Rice Research Institute, Kala Shah Kaku (KSK), Department of Plant Protection (DPP), and TDAP’s consultant shared their expertise on aflatoxin control, pesticide management, and international food safety requirements.
