Rice Production in Kunduz Sees 30% Increase in 1403

Farmers in Kunduz are pleased with the increase, but they asked the authorities to distribute chemical fertilizers.

The department of agriculture and irrigation of Kunduz said that in 1403 (solar year), rice harvests in the province have increased by 30%.

A number of farmers in Kunduz are pleased with the increase, but they asked the authorities to distribute chemical fertilizers and pest control substances to them.

“Thank God, there is water now, but if I talk about chemical fertilizers, the request of our farmers from the government is that the medicines and fertilizers we buy are of low quality and high price, which harms the farmers,” Abdul Hamid, a farmer, told TOLOnews.

“In terms of chemical fertilizers and other areas, people should be helped so that the farmers can stand on their own feet. If the farmers suffer, they will become weaker,” said Ghulam Rasul, another farmer.

Meanwhile, the agriculture and irrigation department of Kunduz said that this solar year, more than 49,000 hectares of land in the province are used to grow rice, and it is estimated that this product will increase by 30% compared to last year.

Salahuddin Wahidi, the head of agricultural affairs of the Kunduz Directorate of Agriculture, said: “Our prediction is that this year, rice will be planted on 49,781 hectares of land in Kunduz province. Fortunately, compared to last year, when we had water problems, this year the cultivation level shows a 30% increase.”

Kunduz is one of the agricultural provinces in the north of the country, which is famous for its agricultural products, especially Surkhe, Basamti, Munda, Shalungi, Irani, Sarda Bara, Garma Bara, and other rice varieties.
