Food commodities worth $4.59 billion exported in 11 months

ISLAMABAD – Food commodities worth $4.589 billion were exported during the first 11 months of current fiscal year as compared to the exports of $6.748 billion of the corresponding period of the last year. The food group exports from the country during the period under review decreased by 31.86 percent as they were recorded at $6.784 billion during the 11 months of last financial year. According to data of the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, over 3.929 million tons of rice worth $2.077 billion was exported during the period from July-May, FY2025-26 as compared to the exports of 5.544 million tons valued at $3.203 billion of the same period of the last year.
Meanwhile, about 717,231 metric tons of Basmati rice worth $753.408 million was exported as compared to exports of 761,127 metric tons valued at $781.934 million of the same period of the last year, it added. During the period under review, over 199,065 metric tons of fish and fish preparations worth $445.247 million were also exported as compared to the exports of 198,713 metric tons valued at $427.321 million of the same period of the last year, it added. During the period under review, the exports of fish and fish products grew by 4.18 percent as compared to the exports of the same period of the last year.
In 11 months of current financial year, country earned $1.324 billion by exporting over 3.212 million metric tons of rice other then Basmati as compared to the exports 4.383 million metric tons worth of $2.421 billion of the same period of the last year, the data revealed. During the period under review, about 106,556 metric tons of meat and meat preparations valued at $489.521 million were exported as compared to the exports of 107,899 metric tons worth $466.607 million of the same period of the last year. The exports of meat and meat products during the period under review grew by 4.91 percent as compared to the exports of the corresponding period of the last year.
