CABARROGUIS, Quirino (PIA) — The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) has capacitated farmers in the province of Quirino on advanced agricultural technologies for rice production and proper fertilizer use through a series of training sessions held recently in the province.
The sessions, organized by DAR’s Program Beneficiaries Development Division, brought together members from the agrarian reform beneficiary organizations to include the Samahan ng mga Magsasakang Agraryo Agrarian Reform Cooperative; Gulac Farmers Agrarian Reform Cooperative; Ligaya ARB and Farmers Development Association Inc.; Aglipay, Quirino and San Salvador ARB Farmers Association Inc.; Rizal Beneficiaries of Agrarian Reform and Farmers Organization Inc.; and Cabarroguis Livelihood Agriculture Cooperative.
Venilyn T. Mabunga, chief Agrarian Reform Program Officer, said the initiative aimed to enhance the knowledge and skills of agrarian reform beneficiaries in rice farming, promote sustainable agricultural practices, and improve their overall economic conditions.
“This training was designed to equip farmers with advanced agricultural techniques in rice production, particularly in pest and disease management and proper fertilizer application,” Mabunga said.
She added that the training also aimed to encourage eco-friendly practices, increase productivity and income, and foster stronger community and cooperative development.
Mabunga emphasized that the training reaffirms DAR’s commitment to empowering agrarian reform communities through innovative, science-based interventions.(TCB/PIA-2, Quirino)
