Battambang distributes rice seeds to 376 flood-hit farming families

Synopsis: The assistance to communities in Sangke district aims to restore agricultural production and livelihoods.
Battambang provincial authorities have distributed rice seeds to 376 farming families in Sangke district to help restore agricultural production and livelihoods following flood-related damage.
The distribution was led by Battambang Provincial Governor Sok Lou and his team yesterday in Wat Ta Mim and Roka communes. The rice seeds were provided through the Cambodia Food Reserve System as a donation from Prime Minister Hun Manet.
Speaking during the distribution, Lou said the assistance reflected the government’s attention to the challenges faced by flood-affected farmers and was intended to help them resume cultivation.
He urged officials to expedite distribution efforts to ensure farmers receive the seeds in time for the planting season.
Lou said the prime minister had previously provided rice seeds to 10,700 farming families, while the provincial administration and partner working groups continued supporting additional households through further seed distributions.
He added that the seeds were high-quality varieties supplied by the government to support the recovery of rice production.
Lou encouraged farmers to take good care of their crops and consider cultivating supplementary crops to diversify their sources of income and strengthen household livelihoods.
Farmers receiving the assistance thanked Mr Hun Manet and the Battambang Provincial Administration, saying the timely support would help them resume agricultural activities and recover from the effects of the floods.
