Jakarta, IO – The National Food Agency (NFA) has officially relaunched the Rice Supply and Price Stabilization (SPHP) program, assigning state-owned logistics company Perum Bulog to distribute up to 1.3 million tons of government rice reserves over the next six months, from July to December 2025.

The mandate was issued through NFA Head’s official letter No. 173/TS.02.02/K/7/2025, dated July 8, 2025. “This month, we’ve restarted the SPHP rice program along with the food assistance program. Through these two intervention strategies, we hope to control rice prices in the market and prevent further fluctuations,” said NFA Head Arief Prasetyo Adi in Jakarta on Thursday, July 10.

Arief added that starting this year, Bulog is also allowed to channel SPHP rice through the Merah Putih Village Cooperatives network. “With clearly established outlets, this network helps ensure broader public access to affordable rice.”

The selling price of SPHP rice taken directly from Bulog warehouses is set at IDR 11,000 per kg for Java, Lampung, South Sumatra, Bali, West Nusa Tenggara, and Sulawesi; IDR 11,300 per kg for the rest of Sumatra, East Nusa Tenggara, and Kalimantan; and IDR 11,600 per kg for Maluku and Papua.

Consumers can purchase SPHP rice according to the maximum retail price (HET) set for medium-grade rice under NFA Regulation No. 5/2024. The government will take firm action against any sales that exceed the regulated price, in coordination with the Food Task Force of the Indonesian National Police. (eka)
