Balochistan Launches Thresher Subsidy Scheme To Support Small Farmers

The Balochistan government has formally launched the Thresher Subsidy Scheme to provide relief to small landowners and wheat farmers struggling with rising fuel prices. The initiative aims to ease financial pressure on growers during the critical harvesting stage.
QUETTA, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 15th Apr, 2026) The Balochistan government has formally launched the Thresher Subsidy Scheme to provide relief to small landowners and wheat farmers struggling with rising fuel prices. The initiative aims to ease financial pressure on growers during the critical harvesting stage.
Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti, in a post shared on social media platform X, announced that subsidy payments have already been transferred to the accounts of 3,102 farmers, while an additional 13,128 farmers will receive payments within the next two to three days. The process will continue as account verification is completed across the province.
According to data from the Agriculture Department, 85,821 farmers are registered in Balochistan, of which 74,202 have been verified.
The province has 68,972 wheat growers, including 50,329 small farmers owning 12.5 acres or less.
Sarfraz Bugti noted that regional tensions and rising fuel costs have severely impacted the agricultural sector, particularly small farmers whose wheat crops are ready for threshing. He explained that the government is providing fuel subsidies on a per-acre basis to reduce the burden and ensure timely harvesting.
“The government is fully aware of the challenges faced by farmers, and providing practical relief is among our top priorities,” Bugti said. He directed officials to make the subsidy distribution process faster, more transparent, and effective so that maximum eligible farmers can benefit and agricultural productivity in the province can be enhanced.
