Bac Ninh has harvested nearly 50% of its summer rice crop.

BAC NINH – According to a report from the Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection, as of October 11th, farmers in the city had harvested 35,500 hectares of summer rice, reaching nearly 50% of the planted area.

Specifically, in the communes and wards under the inter-commune/ward Plant Cultivation and Protection Station No. 4 (formerly Tan Yen and Hiep Hoa areas), the harvested rice area reached 70-80% of the plan; in the communes and wards under the inter-commune/ward Plant Cultivation and Protection Station No. 1 and No. 3, the harvested rice area reached 45-50% of the plan; and in the communes and wards under the inter-commune/ward Plant Cultivation and Protection Station No. 2, the harvested rice area reached 20-25% of the plan.

Farmers in Tam Son ward are harvesting their rice crop.

Thanks to the increased use of combine harvesters, with a mechanization rate of approximately 98%, the harvesting process has been accelerated, contributing to freeing up labor for farmers. Currently, the price for rice harvesting services ranges from 120,000 to 200,000 VND per sao (depending on the locality and time of year).

Preliminary assessments indicate that the average rice yield in this year’s crop season will reach approximately 54-55 quintals/hectare, an increase of 4-5 quintals/hectare compared to the 2025 crop season.

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, in October and November 2026, temperatures and rainfall will be similar to the multi-year average, and extreme weather events may occur, affecting production. To protect rice yields and complete the 2026 winter crop production plan, the Department of Agriculture and Environment requests that localities guide farmers to take advantage of favorable conditions, harvest rice quickly and efficiently following the principle of “better to harvest while still green than to let it ripen too much” to minimize damage caused by weather and pests at the end of the season, and at the same time, free up land for planting winter crops in a timely manner.
