Myanmar farmers who grow summer rice are being sold affordable concentrated fertilisers

The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation and the Ministry of Cooperatives and Rural Development are working together to ensure that farmers who grow summer rice can use quality fertilizers and easily purchase them at cheaper prices.

YANGON – It is reported that farmers who grow summer rice are sold a bag of fertilizer at about 100,000 kyats.

Under the management of the state government, the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation and the Ministry of Cooperatives and Rural Development are working together to ensure that farmers who grow summer rice can use quality fertilizers and easily purchase them at affordable prices .

A direct distribution of pearl fertilizer to villages in the Nay Pyi Taw Council area with one hundred and five hundred kyats per bag for the remaining summer paddy cultivation period of 2025-2026 was held at the Kharangai Village Agricultural Technology Center in Lewe Township, Nay Pyi Taw on April 19.

Union Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation U Min Naung said that farmers should use inputs correctly and in accordance with the amount and methods required for the crop season to achieve the target yield, increase domestic consumption and increase rice exports. He also said that the state is making special efforts to support summer rice farmers despite the current input demand difficulties around the world, and that they should use them without misusing them.

Afterwards, Union Minister for Cooperatives and Rural Development U Myo Zaw Thein spoke about the ongoing arrangements to ensure that the necessary inputs and fertilizers reach farmers in a timely manner, and the ministry’s actions to increase farmers’ income and develop the region .

Next, Union Ministers, Deputy Ministers, and Nay Pyi Taw Council members inspected the sale of Myanmar Obar Commet G-46 pearl fertilizer at a price of 1500 kyats per bag, based on the demand per acre.

Fertilizers are being sold in six villages within the Nay Pyi Taw Council area. The first batch of 30 percent of the fertilizer requirement for the remaining area of ​​the currently cultivated summer paddy acreage in the regions and states is being sold with the approval of the relevant governments after field inspections. The remaining areas are being sold in two installments before the period of use to ensure full coverage.
