ICAR-CRRI Empowers Vulnerable Rice Farmers in Cuttack to Combat Climate Change and Boost Productivity.

10 January 2024, New Delhi: Aiming to transform farmers from victims of climate change into resilient climate warriors, a 4-day training program on “Improved Paddy Production Technologies in the Changing Climate” concluded at the ICAR-Central Rice Research Institute, Cuttack. Sponsored by the Agricultural Technology Management Agency, Darbhanga, Bihar, the programme was organised from January 6th-9th, 2025, and engaged 24 farmers from the vulnerable regions of Darbhanga, Bihar. The training focused on equipping farmers with scientific knowledge to enhance rice productivity and ensure sustainability in the face of climate challenges.

Dr A.K. Nayak, Director, ICAR-CRRI, Cuttack, emphasized the urgent need for widespread adoption of climate-resilient farming practices and technologies. He stressed that implementing such innovations would be critical for long-term agricultural sustainability.

The initiative marks an important step in equipping farmers with the tools and knowledge needed to navigate the challenges of climate change and ensure the future of rice farming in vulnerable regions.
