The government strengthens rice stocks to face El Niño
Grocers display five-kilogram packages of SPHP rice at Flamboyan Market, Pontianak, West Kalimantan, Friday (24/7/2026). The government is strengthening food security by increasing the Government Rice Reserves (CBP) stock from approximately 1.5 million tons during the El Nino event in 2023 to around 5.2 million tons in July 2026 to anticipate the effects of the dry season and El Nino, as well as to maintain the stability of domestic rice supply and prices.
