NFA allots 20K sacks of rice for disaster aid

By Pia Lorraine Francisco

ROXAS CITY, Capiz (PIA)  The National Food Authority (NFA) Capiz Branch has released 20,165 sacks of quality rice for disaster relief in the Visayas.

The rice was allocated to the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Visayas Disaster Resource Center in early 2026 to strengthen ongoing disaster response efforts across the region.

NFA Capiz Acting Branch Manager Mellany Vento said that the NFA rice will be incorporated into the family food packs for immediate distribution to affected families.

Vento noted that the NFA reaffirmed its core mandate to secure an adequate, safe, and high-quality rice supply for the Filipino people, especially in times of urgent need.

“In times of disaster, this is more than just rice. It is relief, security, and hope delivered straight to families in need,” she said.

Vento emphasized that food security remains a priority during emergencies, guaranteeing that every Filipino has access to safe, high-quality rice exactly when they need it most.

“With every sack delivered comes compassion and a promise. No Filipino will be left behind in times of disaster. NFA, a partner in crisis, a force in recovery. When disaster strikes, we are ready to respond,” she stated.

Vento highlighted that the rice buffer stocks were sourced exclusively from local farmers.

Moreover, the NFA Capiz Branch also conducted various Ugnayan Activities with farmers from the provinces of Capiz and Aklan to express gratitude for their vital contribution to the agency’s buffer stock and to the country’s overall food security. (AGP/PLF/PIA Capiz)
