Nearly 14,000 Mindoreños from 4 towns receive 10-kilo rice under LGSF

By Ace Sapit

CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro — A total of 13,949 vulnerable residents from the municipalities of Bongabong, Bansud, Gloria, and Pinamalayan in Oriental Mindoro received 10 kilograms of rice each under the Local Government Support Fund (LGSF).

The program aims to help low-income families cope with rising food prices by easing their household food expenses through the distribution of rice through President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s “Bawat Bayan Makikinabang” program.

Earlier, President Marcos said the program affirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthen grassroots support and ensure that government resources directly reach local communities.

Beyond providing relief to beneficiaries, the initiative also supports the province’s agriculture sector.

Governor Humerlito “Bonz” Dolor, during the distribution of rice assistance, said the rice distributed to residents was sourced from local farmers in Oriental Mindoro, allowing the government to assist both struggling families and rice producers through local procurement.

The distribution was led by Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO), in partnership with the Provincial Agriculturist’s Office and the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO).

Personnel from various offices of the provincial government also took part in the distribution to facilitate the efficient delivery of food assistance to beneficiaries in the four municipalities.

Dolor said the ‘Bawat Bayan Makikinabang’ program is part of President Marcos’ continuing efforts to strengthen food security, mitigate the effects of inflation on vulnerable households, and create a sustainable market for locally produced rice by supporting Mindoreño farmers.
