JAKARTA (Bernama): Indonesia’s state logistics agency, Bulog, is continuing discussions with Malaysia and Singapore on proposed rice export deals, including negotiations over pricing and other commercial terms.

Bulog president director Ahmad Rizal Ramdhani said the agency was awaiting Malaysia’s readiness to receive an Indonesian delegation while maintaining communication to expedite negotiations with both countries.

“We have not gone there yet because they are not ready, but we are continuing to pursue the matter so they can prepare to receive us and we can reach certainty on the agreed price,” he said, according to Antara News Agency on Monday.

Previously, Rizal said the proposed export of 200,000 tonnes of rice to Malaysia remained under price negotiations, while Indonesia was also planning to export 10,000 tonnes to Singapore following bilateral discussions between Agriculture Minister Andi Amran Sulaiman and Singapore’s Sustainability and the Environment Minister Grace Fu in Jakarta on June 29.

He added that President Prabowo Subianto had instructed that any rice export agreement should protect Indonesian farmers and support Indonesia’s broader economic interests.
