India expects record rice harvest and stronger role in global markets this year

Enhanced farming practices have contributed to higher productivity in key growing regions

India is expected to achieve a record rice harvest this year, with forecasts pointing to strong yields that could further strengthen the country’s position as one of the world’s leading grain producers, as reported by ANI, a partner of TV BRICS. Currently, India is projected to produce more than 145 million metric tonnes of rice this year.

According to agricultural experts, favourable conditions and enhanced farming practices have contributed to higher productivity in key growing regions. Experts highlight that sustained government investment in irrigation networks and modern farming practices has been a key factor in achieving higher yields.

At the same time, the strong harvest could enhance India’s role in export markets, particularly in Asia and Africa, where many countries rely on Indian rice imports to support staple food consumption. With rice forming a cornerstone of both domestic consumption and international trade, the 2025 harvest is seen as a milestone that will shape India’s economic and food security landscape in the years ahead, experts claimed.
