by Staff Writer

COLOMBO (News 1st) –

The Ministry of Trade says that steps are being taken to restore the limited rice sales in retail stores to normalcy.

Deputy Minister of Trade, R. M. Jayawardena says that retailers have imposed restrictions on rice sales, citing that the profits they are receiving are insufficient.

However, the Deputy Minister says that there is currently an adequate stock of rice in the country.

Meanwhile, Dr. Samitha Perera, Chairman of Lanka Sathosa says that 300 metric tons of rice are being released to the market daily through Lanka Sathosa.

He adds that the rice is being sold under the government-controlled price.
