Exports decline 7.14% in nine months

Machinery imports rise 10.28% as sport goods exports increase 12.99% to $319m.

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan exported goods worth Rs6,393 billion during the first three quarters (July-March) of the current fiscal year (2025-26), a decline of 7.14% compared with Rs6,884 billion in the same period last year, according to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).

In March alone, exports amounted to Rs635.5 billion, down 0.17% from February and 14.21% from March 2025. Major export commodities in March 2026 were knitwear (Rs92.4 billion), readymade garments (Rs84.1 billion), bed wear (Rs67 billion), rice (other) (Rs43.1 billion), cotton cloth (Rs40.2 billion), towels (Rs25.3 billion), made-up articles (excluding towels and bed wear) (Rs17.6 billion), cotton yarn (Rs17.2 billion), fish and fish preparations (Rs14.8 billion) and basmati rice (Rs13.4 billion).

Meanwhile, imports during July-March totalled Rs14,254 billion, an increase of 7.98% from Rs13,200 billion in the corresponding period last year. March imports stood at Rs1,430 billion, down 3.44% from February.

Imports of the overall machinery group increased by 10.28% during the nine-month period, reflecting improved investor confidence and policy continuity. Agricultural machinery imports rose 18.69% to $102 million, textile machinery surged 20.94% to $449 million, and power-generating machinery increased 16.20% to $632 million. Construction and mining machinery imports jumped 72.62% to $177 million, while office machinery imports rose 38.86% to $520 million.

Sport goods exports

Pakistan’s sport goods exports increased by 12.99% to $319 million during July-March, compared with $282 million last year. Football exports rose 17.81% to $197 million, while gloves exports declined 6.86% to $44.8 million. Other sports goods surged 15.20% to $76.9 million. On a monthly basis, sports goods exports in March increased by 9.42% from February and 10.90% from March 2025. Football exports rose 9.36% and gloves exports increased 14.27% during the month.
