MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Agriculture (DA) on Sunday announced that its P20 rice program will reach Clark, Pampanga, starting Dec. 1, 2025.

According to the DA, more than 150,000 workers are expected to benefit from the affordable rice initiative.

The agency said the program, Benteng Bigas, Meron Na! (P20 Rice, Now Available!), was made possible through a partnership between the DA and the Clark Development Corporation.

“This is just the start,” said Agriculture Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr.

“By strengthening local food systems, we are not only protecting our workers’ welfare but also empowering farmers nationwide,” he added.

The DA explained that the program is anchored on its Zero-Kilometer Food System, which promotes the production, processing, and sale of food within local areas to reduce transport costs and ensure freshness.

The P20 rice will be distributed through Kadiwa ng Pangulo outlets in the zone, integrating farmers, cooperatives, and government agencies into a streamlined supply chain. /mcm
