DA: 70.14% Metro Manila retailers follow rice price cap

MANILA, Philippines —  Around 70.14 percent of stalls in Metro Manila are complying with the P50-per-kilo imported rice price cap, the Department of Agriculture said yesterday.

Based on the DA’s inspection, the lowest price recorded is at P46 per kilo, with the highest at P68.

Eight violators in the capital have been issued notices.

Of the 822 imported rice retailers inspected nationwide, 368 or 44.7 percent were non-compliant with the price cap.

Ilocos Region tallied the highest number of stalls issued, with notices of violation at 19, followed by four in Central Luzon, three in the Negros Island Region and two in Bicol.

Northern Mindanao reported the highest compliance rate at 91.67 percent.

Central Luzon’s P42 per kilo of rice is the lowest price, while P70 per kilo in the Cordillera Administrative Region is the highest.
