Cambodia and the Philippines have strengthened their agricultural ties following a business forum to boost bilateral trade and open up fresh export markets for Cambodian produce in the Philippines.
The Cambodia-Philippines Government-Private Sector Agricultural Business Forum was held in Manila on Monday during the official visit of Agriculture Minister Dith Tina to the Philippines.
The forum was co-chaired by Tina and Philippine Agriculture Secretary Francisco P. Tiu Laurel Jr.
Around 33 private companies from both countries explored business partnerships and strengthened agricultural trade. Discussions focused on increasing Cambodian rice exports to the Philippines while promoting other high-potential agricultural products, including cashew nuts and livestock products.
Participants also discussed cooperation on the supply of agricultural fertilisers to help ensure stable access to key farm inputs and support sustainable agricultural production in both countries.
The forum marks another milestone in agricultural cooperation between Cambodia and the Philippines, reflecting both governments’ commitment to strengthening trade ties, meeting growing market demand, and enhancing food security.
The Ministry of Agriculture said the expanded market access for Cambodian rice and other agricultural products is expected to generate greater economic benefits for local farmers while supporting the continued development of the Kingdom’s agricultural sector.
