Bulog West Java secures 590,000 tons of rice, aids other provinces

Kota Bandung (ANTARA) – State-owned logistics company Bulog’s West Java Regional Office has procured 590,000 tons of harvested grain equivalent to rice as of early June 2026, or approximately 70 percent of its 700,000-ton procurement target for this year.

Head of Bulog West Java, Nurman Susilo, said the achievement reflects strong agricultural productivity in the province and helps strengthen the government’s food reserves.

“Because we have abundant stocks, we are now helping meet demand from other provinces such as North Sumatra, Riau, Jambi, Bengkulu, and West Kalimantan,” he said in Bandung on Monday.

According to Susilo, the high procurement volume has prompted Bulog West Java to expand its storage capacity to accommodate farmers’ harvests.

As part of a national strategic program, West Java is set to receive six new warehouses out of a nationwide target of 100. The facilities will be built in major rice-producing areas, including two in Karawang, two in Cirebon, one in Bandung, and one in Subang.

“Currently, all of the warehouses are still under construction. We hope they will be fully operational next year to further strengthen food security,” Susilo said.

He also assured the public that rice stocks in West Java remain sufficient.

Susilo noted that current rice reserves have reached 590,000 tons, enough to meet demand through the end of the year.

He emphasized that Bulog and the government will continue working to maintain stable food supplies and prices.

“If there are indications of supply disruptions or unjustified price increases at the distributor or trader level, the government will seek alternative sources of supply to keep food prices stable in West Java,” he said.
