Jakarta (ANTARA) – The National Food Agency (Bapanas) has assured that all rice from the Government Rice Reserves (CBP) distributed by the State Logistics Agency (Bulog) is in good condition, safe for consumption, and of consistent quality.

“We ensure that Bapanas and Bulog always distribute rice to the public in good condition,” Bapanas Head Arief Prasetyo Adi said in Jakarta on Wednesday.

He said the rice distributed by Bulog undergoes a series of quality assurance procedures, including inspection upon arrival at warehouses, regular testing during storage, and strict maintenance of warehouse sanitation. Spraying and fumigation are carried out whenever pest activity is detected.

“Efforts to maintain the quality of CBP stock are implemented consistently. There can be no compromise when it comes to rice quality for the public,” Arief said.

Deputy for Food Availability and Stabilization at Bapanas I Gusti Ketut Astawa said Bulog has continued to strengthen quality control measures to preserve its CBP reserves.

He noted that domestic procurement, which has surpassed 3 million tons, must be supported by rigorous quality assurance before distribution.

“Our colleagues at Bulog conduct routine warehouse maintenance to prevent any decline in rice quality. The public must receive good-quality Bulog rice,” Ketut said.

Bulog also monitors rice quality during distribution. If any deterioration is detected, verification and reprocessing measures are immediately carried out to restore quality.

“Bulog ensures that only rice fit for consumption reaches the public,” he added.

As of October 6, Bulog’s total rice stock stood at 3.89 million tons, comprising 3.83 million tons of CBP and 56,600 tons of commercial rice, according to Bapanas data.

The stock was sourced from domestic procurement totaling 3.09 million tons, of which 870,800 tons have been distributed through various food assistance and stabilization programs.

Bapanas and Bulog continue to coordinate to maintain stable food supplies and safeguard rice quality nationwide as part of the government’s broader food security efforts.
