According to the Ayeyawady Region Government, plans are underway to implement a 100,000-acre rice export zone in the Ayeyawady Region under a contract farming system.
In implementing this 100,000-acre rice export zone through contract farming, discussions have been held on designating district-level areas for businesses that will invest in the Ayeyawady Region and operate under the contract farming system.
“Aiming to produce quality rice, those participating in the export zone will work on the basis of four key elements: seed, land, water and technique. Efforts are also being made to ensure that domestic rice farmers receive fair and appropriate profits in line with global rice prices,” said an official from the Ayeyawady Region Government.
The Ayeyawady Region Government will also oversee the operation of rice mills in the region to ensure high standards, and will monitor the management of waste materials produced by gasifier systems that use rice husk fuel, so that they do not harm or pollute the natural environment and that all activities comply with stipulated rules and regulations.
