Large warehouses in the Sa Dec area are buying less; transactions in Can Tho are also weak. This is why the upward trend in fresh paddy prices has not yet spread to the raw rice market.
Forecast for October 21st: Purchasing power remains the deciding factor.
Rice prices edged up amidst slow trading, indicating that buyers and sellers are not easily agreeing on a price. If warehouses increase their purchases, Dai Thom 8 and IR 50404 could maintain the recent gains. Conversely, prolonged low trading volumes will limit the potential for further increases.
For raw rice, the market needs more orders and actual purchasing power to see a more significant change. In the short term, there is no basis to expect all types to increase simultaneously; fluctuations may continue to vary between paddy, milled rice, and by-products.
