Pakistan launches rice road show in Ghana to boost West Africa trade

Event brings together 28 exporters and over 200 buyers to strengthen partnerships and food security.

By News Desk.

Pakistan has initiated the Pakistan Rice Road Show 2025 in Accra, Ghana, aiming to enhance trade links and support food security across West Africa.

Organised by the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP), the event brought together 28 Pakistani rice exporters and more than 200 Ghanaian buyers for business-to-business meetings and trade discussions.

Director-General (Agro) at TDAP, Athar Hussain Khokhar, highlighted Pakistan’s growing rice exports, noting that the country shipped 5.5 million metric tonnes in 2024-25, valued at $3.2 billion.

He added that the road show seeks to build long-term partnerships that contribute to economic growth and food security in Ghana.

Pakistan is increasing efforts to expand its footprint in West African markets, with shipments averaging 550,000 tonnes per month during peak periods. The road show will also focus on opportunities for long-term contracts, technology transfers, and joint ventures to support Ghana’s agriculture sector.

The initiative will continue in Cote d’Ivoire on August 28-29 and in Senegal on September 1-2.
