Arkansas farmers wrapping up corn and rice planting

Corn and rice planting are nearing completion for Arkansas farmers, while cotton, soybean, and peanut planting are full steam ahead.
Corn planting is 96 percent complete with 90 percent emerged, 1 percent silking and 68 percent of the crop rated good to excellent. Rice planting is 91 percent com and 81 percent emerged, with 74 percent of the crop rated good to excellent.
Soybeans are 76 percent planted, 62 percent emerged, and 66 percent rated good to excellent.
Cotton is 60 percent planted and 30 percent emerged.
Peanuts are 45 percent planted, and 19 percent emerged.
The first cutting of hay is 24 percent complete. Hay is rated 48 percent good to excellent, and pastures are rated 53 percent good to excellent.
Sweet potatoes are 45 percent planted, and 57 percent of the state vegetable crops are rated good to excellent.
Winter wheat is 93 percent headed and 50 percent coloring, with 53 percent of the crop rated good to excellent.
Topsoil moisture is 91 percent, and subsoil moisture is 93 percent adequate to surplus.
