In order to help consumers understand rice, Yangon Rice Showcase 2025 will be jointly organized by the regional consumer affairs department and Myanmar Rice Federation on 24 December at Melia Hotel in Yangon.

MRF said, rice is a staple food for Myanmar people and in Yangon which houses more than 8 million residents, in particular, busy housewives and middle-aged families have faced difficulties in choosing which variety of rice can provide their need, as there are a wide range of varieties of rice with different brands and prices.

This is a kind of consumer education talk on rice varieties manufactured by local rice mills and their quality, price and nutritional value, and which cooking method can enhance the rice quality and taste.

Additionally, it will improve the transparency between sellers and consumers, share knowledge about Myanmar rice varieties using modern communication methods, and support knowledge about rice varieties for housewives that can bring advantages for next generations.

At the event, middle-aged women under 45 from selected townships will be appointed as rice ambassadors who can share knowledge about rice provided by MRF, through competitions, aiming to help them distribute right knowledge and experience in rice varieties and prices among residents of their township and nearby community, said MRF.
