The West African rice market remained broadly stable on Feb. 17, with parboiled prices holding firm across major destinations, while white rice quotations softened in select markets amid moderate demand and cautious procurement.

Benin: In Benin, double-polish rice in 50-kg packaging remained unchanged on the day, quoted in the range of $554633 per tonne. White rice in 50-kg bags also held steady at $557-564 per tonne, while 25-kg packs were stable at $546-554 per tonne, indicating balanced buying and limited short-term supply pressure.

Niger: In Niger, particularly in the Maradi trading belt, Indian parboiled rice prices remained unchanged at $536 per tonne for 50-kg bags, while 25-kg packs were steady at $561 per tonne, reflecting consistent demand in smaller retail pack segments.

Double-polish premium grades such as Tara Red, Yoga and Namo were assessed in the range of $624-640 per tonne, while other grades were offered near $556 per tonne, highlighting a widening premium for higher-finish rice.

White rice, however, registered a correction. For 50-kg bags, prices declined from $575-582 per tonne on Feb. 16 to $560567 per tonne on Feb. 17, marking a 2.5% drop day-on-day. Similarly, 25-kg white rice eased from $561-575 per tonne to $548-556 per tonne, a decline of about 2.8%, indicating softer buying interest and price adjustments by suppliers to maintain trade flows.

Togo: In Togo, Indian parboiled rice strengthened marginally. Prices moved from $478-480 per tonne on Feb. 16 to around $484 per tonne on Feb. 17 for 50-kg bags, supported by steady import demand and limited near-term availability.

Burkina Faso: In Burkina Faso, Indian parboiled rice for 50-kg bags was quoted at about $558 per tonne, with the market largely stable and supported by routine procurement from traders and institutional buyers.
