Rice shortage reported amid disaster-related transport issues.

The Small and Medium Scale Paddy Mill Owners Association has raised concerns over a rice shortage in some areas, attributing it to transportation disruptions caused by the ongoing disaster situation.

Chairman U.K. Semasinghe stated at a press conference in Anuradhapura yesterday that despite large-scale producers continuing rice production, logistical challenges have led to market shortages.

S.S. Ranasinghe, a member of the Marandagahamula Rice Traders Association, criticized the government for failing to provide an effective solution to the rice crisis.
