Rice, beef prices up in mid-February

THE average retail prices of rice and beef nationwide were higher in mid-February, according to data from the Philippine Statistics Authority.

Well-milled rice sold for P53.54 per kilogram (kg) in mid-February (15 to 17) higher than P52.62/kg in early February (1 to 5) and P50.97/kg in mid-January (15 to 17).

However, it was lower than the P53.90/kg in mid-February 2025 and P54.19/kg in early February of the same year.

Fresh beef meat with bones retailed at P375.00/kg at the national in mid-February, higher than P371.27/kg in early February and P371.86/kg in mid-January. This was also an increase from P359.01/kg and P357.40/kg in mid-and early February 2025, respectively.

Meanwhile, galunggong’s (round scad) retail price of P246.38/kg in mid-February was lower than P253.77/kg and P251.35/kg in early February and mid-January, respectively.

Conversely, this was an increase from P231.24/kg in mid-February 2025 and P226.43/kg in early February of the same year.

Tomatoes retailed at P95.74/kg in mid-February, a drop from P104.78/kg in early February, P131.24/kg in mid-January and P109.42/kg in early February 2025.

However, it was higher compared to P90.64/kg in mid-February 2025.

Red onions sold for P177.33/kg in mid-February, lower than P184.01/kg in early February, P204.33/kg in mid-January and P182.47/kg in mid-February 2025.

On the other hand, it was higher than P162.69/kg in early February 2025.

Latundan banana retailed at P57.90/kg in mid-February, higher than P56.62/kg in early February and P56.45/kg in mid-January. It was also more expensive compared to P54.62/kg in mid-February 2025 and P53.58/kg in early February of the same year.

Cooking oil sold for P191.83 per liter (L) in mid-February, higher than P191.54/L in early February, but lower than P193.87/L in mid-January.

It was also lower than P170.20/L in mid-February 2025 and P170.24/L in early February of the same year.
