Myanmar to export rice to EU in 2026
Global New Light of Myanmar

The Myanmar Rice Producers and Planters Association stated that Myanmar and EU trade partners have agreed shipment of Myanmar’s parboiled rice (6.22 mm size) and white rice (five per cent broken) to EU markets, commencing in January 2026.
Furthermore, the Philippines, which cut rice imports, raised the tariff to 20 per cent. The Philippines will bring three million tonnes of rice into the country. Myanmar will endeavour to convey rice to the Philippines as well. Myanmar currently delivers non-premium rice (Thukha and Kayinma rice varieties) to China. Aemahta rice will be sent there in the summer paddy season, making growers see potential.
Myanmar exported more than 1.5 million tonnes of rice in the past seven months, primarily to China (over 340,000 tonnes). Myanmar shipped 81,441 tonnes of rice and 3,493 tonnes of parboiled rice to China in November, Myanmar Rice Federation’s data showed. — ASH/KK
