The Myanmar Rice Federation (MRF) offers fair market prices for Shwebo Pawsan, Ayeyawady Pawan and Samantha rice varieties, it announced on 13 June.
MRF and the Myanmar Rice and Paddy Traders Association jointly arrange this affordable rice sale every Wednesday and Thursday from 11 am to 3 pm at Wadan Rice Depot in Lanmadaw Township.
The prices are K31,000 per 10-kilogramme sack of Shwebo Pawsan, K24,000 per 10-kilogramme sack of Ayeyawady Pawsan and K13,500 per 10-kilogramme sack of Aemahta rice variety.
Moreover, they sell rice through a mobile market scheme on Fridays and Saturdays near municipal markets, at K32,000 per 10-kilogramme sack of Shwebo Pawsan, K25,000 per 10-kilogramme sack of Ayeyawady Pawsan and K14,000 per 10-kilogramme sack of Aemahta rice variety, MRF notified.
The Consumer Affairs Department under the Ministry of Commerce stated that reasonable market prices of rice for June 2025 were issued, and non-compliance with the set prices is subject to legal action. — NN/KK
