‘Kadiwa ng Pangulo’ offers affordable rice for vulnerable sectors in N. Vizcaya

By Ben Moses Ebreo

BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya (PIA)—The “Kadiwa ng Pangulo” program will offer affordable rice to seniors, persons with disabilities, Indigenous Peoples, and single parents in Nueva Vizcaya.

Governor Jose Gambito said 10-kilo sacks of commercial rice will be sold to the target sectors at P29 per kilo in support of the pronouncement of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. during his State of the Nation Address to make rice affordable for public consumption.

He said the national government, through the Department of Agriculture, has partnered with farmers’ cooperatives and associations to provide at least 2,000 cavans of commercial rice for distribution.

“In addition to rice, various agricultural products will also be available at affordable prices at the provincial capitol to help residents cope with the rising cost of basic goods,” Gambito said.

The Kadiwa ng Pangulo program, an initiative of the President, aims to provide affordable agricultural products directly to consumers, particularly those from vulnerable sectors.

He said that by tapping local farmers’ associations and cooperatives as partners, the program eliminates middlemen, helping ensure lower prices for essential goods like rice and vegetables.

Also, the kadiwa supports local producers by providing them with a stable market for their products, promoting food security and economic growth in communities nationwide. (OTB/BME/PIA Region 2)
