Strengthening domestic rice production to meet public consumption has also bolstered the Indonesian Government Rice Reserve (CBP), which now totals 3.8 million tonnes.

Hanoi (VNA) – Head of the National Food Agency of Indonesia (Bapanas) Andi Amran Sulaima has highlighted Indonesia’s influence on global rice prices by boosting production and ensuring consistent, sustainable price stability.

Indonesia has contributed to lowering global food prices from around 650 USD per ton to 371 USD now, he noted in a statement on November 4.

Strengthening domestic rice production to meet public consumption has also bolstered the Government Rice Reserve (CBP), which now totals 3.8 million tonnes, he added.

The minister attributed this achievement to President Prabowo Subianto’s direct policies, which have allowed Indonesia to play a major role in the global rice market. It also marks the government’s move to stop rice imports in 2025.

The Indonesian Government has also established a Rice Price Control Task Force to supervise rice producers, distributors, wholesalers, and retailers across Indonesia.
