Indonesia rice output in January to June seen rising 0.26% year-on-year

Indonesia expects a longer and more severe dry season this year due to El Nino, which started in April.

JAKARTA: Indonesia’s rice output for the January-June period is expected to rise 0.26% from a year earlier to 19.31 million metric tons, data from the country’s statistics bureau showed on Monday.

In the April-June period, Indonesia’s rice output is expected to reach 9.61 million tons, down 8.3% from the same period last year, the bureau said.

Indonesia expects a longer and more severe dry season this year due to El Nino, which started in April.
