The Indian Government has fixed reserve price of ₹2,100 per quintal for the sale of broken rice to all under the Open Market Sale Scheme-Domestic (OMSS-D) for the July-September quarter.
The announcement follows the outcome of the Dynamic Reserve Price Committee meeting held on , August 20. This is the first time the government has fixed the price.
“Reserve price at ₹2,100 per quintal has been fixed for both raw and parboiled resultant broken rice for the quarter July-September 2006. The reserve price will apply to auctions conducted till September 30, irrespective of the actual lifting period,” the Ministry of Food and Consumer Affairs said in a note.
Industry sources said open market prices could be lower than the OMSS as arrivals are expected to be higher.
