The Indian Cabinet has approved the export of 1 million tonnes of non-basmati rice to Indonesia. The initiative will be conducted by National Cooperative Export Ltd (NCEL) under an agreement with the Indonesian government, following a decision by the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs.

The Indian government has given the green light for the export of 1 million tonnes of non-basmati rice to Indonesia, as confirmed by Agriculture Minister Shivaraj Singh Chouhan. The National Cooperative Export Ltd (NCEL) is set to manage the initiative.
The approval was granted during a Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The export arrangement falls under a broader memorandum of understanding involving NCEL, India’s Cooperation Ministry, and the Indonesian government.
Officials describe the move as a strategic economic decision that will expand trade relations between India and Indonesia, highlighting the essential role of cooperative partnerships in international commerce.
