Cambodia National Day showcases Cambodia’s rice culture and vast potential in Japan

The Ministry of Commerce, in its capacity as the Inter-ministerial Committee for the Preparation and Participation in World and International Trade Expositions, organised the “Cambodia National Day” Programme at the Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan.
This event was presided over by Sok Chenda Sophea, Deputy Prime Minister and High Representative of Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, and Fuji Hisayuki, State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan.
The event was attended by delegations from both Cambodia and Japan, representatives from ASEAN counties, ASEAN and partner countries pavilions, Cambodian nationals residing in Japan, and national and international guests approximately 500.
The objective of the “Cambodia National Day” was to showcase to the world the Cambodia’s vast potential in economic development, trade, investment, tourism, and its rich cultural heritage, thereby further enhancing Cambodia’s visibility in the international stage.
To achieve this, Cambodia organised a variety of spectacular cultural performances including the Apsara Dance, Sbek Thom (shadow puppet theatre), the Kujori and Kujerong performances, the Peacock Dance of Pailin, the Preah Sangha Dance, the Coconut Shell Dance, and a vibrant National Day Parade from the Grand Ring to the Cambodia Pavilion.
In addition, the programme featured a signing ceremony of a memorandum of understanding and a commemorative cocktail reception to celebrate Cambodia National Day.
The Expo 2025 Osaka is taking place for a six-month period, from April 13 to Oct. 13, 2025. For this occasion, Cambodia has chosen the “Koh Ker Temple” as the central theme and inspiration for the design of her national pavilion.
To date, the Cambodia Pavilion has received approximately 800,000 national and international visitors. AKP
