Perum Bulog’s Semarang branch holds about 81,600 tonnes of rice. Branch head Yudha Aji Pribawa estimates that the stock can support distribution for roughly four to five months, through the start of the main harvest in February–March 2027.

The inventory serves several government needs, including food assistance, the Supply and Price Stabilisation programme (SPHP), and emergency reserves. About 6,300 tonnes are held at the Tambak Aji warehouse as part of the Government Rice Reserve; the remaining stock is spread across warehouse complexes in the branch’s service area.

Distribution and storage capacity

Rice assistance allocated to the branch’s service area for July–September 2026 totalled about 22,600 tonnes. Each beneficiary was allocated 10 kilograms per month for three months. Bulog Semarang is waiting for a central government assignment for the next assistance phase, including the number of beneficiaries and the allocation for each area.

The branch released around 20,000–22,000 tonnes of rice a month over the past three months. Government food assistance accounted for the largest share. This flow means that the 81,600-tonne stock is an active inventory that continues to be distributed, rather than a volume held without movement.

Bulog Semarang operates eight warehouse complexes with total capacity of about 105,000 tonnes. It also works with private warehouse owners to add roughly 20,000 tonnes of storage. Additional space is intended to accommodate rice and paddy procured by the agency.

Yudha said distribution follows a first-in, first-out approach while taking local consumer preferences into account. Quality checks from receipt through storage cover moisture levels and the shares of broken rice and fragments. Warehouse care includes spraying, fumigation and daily monitoring to maintain cleanliness and control pests.

The main harvest in the branch’s service area is expected in February–March 2027. Bulog plans to intensify paddy procurement again through its field collection team at that time. The stock projection remains dependent on the pace of distribution and future procurement.
