The rice market in the Mekong Delta is showing some signs of price increases in the fresh rice segment, but this has not yet formed a widespread upward trend.
Transactions in many localities remain slow, while the price of raw rice for export mainly maintains its current level.

VHO – Rice prices on October 13, 2026 are forecast to remain stable, with fragrant rice maintaining high levels, while weather conditions in Thailand will be a factor to monitor.
IR 50404 and DS1 increased by 100 VND/kg.

OM 18 and Dai Thom 8 continue to be purchased at 6,200 – 6,300 VND/kg. OM 5451 fluctuates between 6,000 – 6,100 VND/kg, while OM 34 maintains a price of 5,800 – 5,900 VND/kg.

The increase in IR 50404 and DS1 indicates that supply in some segments is providing support for prices. However, this trend has not yet spread to other rice varieties.
In Dong Thap, farmers’ asking prices tend to increase, but transaction volumes remain low. In An Giang , the buying and selling of autumn-winter rice is still limited. Can Tho, Tay Ninh, Vinh Long, and Ca Mau also recorded relatively slow purchasing activity.
This suggests that the current surge is largely localized and not yet a sign of a strong bull cycle across the entire market.
Raw rice prices continue to remain stable.
Unlike some fresh rice varieties, the price of raw rice for export has not seen significant fluctuations.
CL 555 maintained a price of 8,700 – 8,750 VND/kg. IR 504 fluctuated between 8,600 – 8,750 VND/kg, while OM 18 reached 8,700 – 8,850 VND/kg.
The two higher-priced varieties are OM 5451, at 9,300 – 9,400 VND/kg, and Dai Thom 8, ranging from 9,200 – 9,400 VND/kg.

| Fragrance Channel 8 | 9,200 – 9,400 | Stable |
The fact that fresh paddy prices have increased but raw rice prices remain unchanged indicates that purchasing power in the processing stage has not increased correspondingly.
Factories and businesses are currently purchasing primarily based on actual needs. Unless there is a significant demand for large-scale stockpiling or additional export orders, the price of raw rice is unlikely to experience a noticeable increase.
Retail rice prices remain stable, with the high-quality segment maintaining its advantage.
Rice prices in the retail market generally remained stable.
Nàng Nhen maintained a price of 28,000 VND/kg, placing it in the high-priced group. Hương Lài was at 22,000 VND/kg, and Nàng Hoa around 21,000 VND/kg.
Jasmine rice ranges from 16,500 to 17,500 VND/kg, common white rice is around 16,000 VND/kg, and regular rice remains at 14,000 to 15,000 VND/kg.
| Item | Reference price |
|---|---|
| Nàng Nhen | 28,000 VND/kg |
| Jasmine | 22,000 VND/kg |
| Flower Girl | Approximately 21,000 VND/kg |
| Jasmine | 16,500 – 17,500 VND/kg |
| Common white rice | Approximately 16,000 VND/kg |
| Regular rice | 14,000 – 15,000 VND/kg |
The fragrant and high-quality rice segment continues to hold its price better than the common rice segment. However, whether prices will increase further still depends on actual purchasing power.
Vietnamese rice export prices remain stable.
On the export market, the price of Vietnamese rice has not shown any significant fluctuations.
Jasmine rice is being offered at $515-$519 per ton. Fragrant rice with 5% broken grains ranges from $440-$445 per ton, while fragrant rice with 100% broken grains is priced at $371-$375 per ton.
| Vietnamese rice | Export price |
|---|---|
| Jasmine | 515 – 519 USD/ton |
| 5% Fragrance | 440 – 445 USD/ton |
| 100% fragrant sheet | 371 – 375 USD/ton |
In the 5% broken white rice category, the price gap between exporting countries remains quite large.
Thai rice is being offered at $455-$459 per ton, significantly higher than competing sources. Pakistani rice is priced at $409-$413 per ton, while Indian rice is lower, ranging from $382-$386 per ton.
| Market | Price of white rice with 5% broken grains |
|---|---|
| Thailand | 455 – 459 USD/ton |
| Pakistan | 409 – 413 USD/ton |
| India | 382 – 386 USD/ton |
This price gap continues to create competitive pressure for export businesses. Suppliers must compete not only on quality but also on pricing to suit each market.
Rice price forecast for October 14, 2026
Current developments suggest the market is shifting from a completely sideways trend to a slightly differentiated state.
The increase of 100 VND/kg for both IR 50404 and DS1 is a noteworthy signal, indicating that supply and demand in some segments have begun to impact prices. However, OM 18, Dai Thom 8, OM 5451, and OM 34 remain stable.
In the raw rice group, purchasing power has not shown clear signs of improvement. CL 555, IR 504, and OM 18 are therefore likely to continue fluctuating around current price levels.
OM 5451 and Dai Thom 8 still have an advantage due to being in the high-quality raw material group, but the potential for significant growth will only become clearer if businesses step up procurement to fulfill new orders.
On the international market, Vietnamese rice prices still face competition from lower-priced supplies from Pakistan and especially India. Meanwhile, the higher prices of Thai rice create some room for Vietnamese rice in markets that value a balance between quality and price.
In the coming sessions, the market will be primarily influenced by the pace of autumn-winter rice procurement, the purchasing power of mills, and import demand in key markets.
Given current conditions, it is highly likely that rice prices will remain within a narrow range. Some rice varieties may continue to increase slightly, while raw rice prices are likely to remain stable if purchasing power does not improve.
