Báo Văn Hóa

The rice market in the Mekong Delta entered August 10, 2026, in a relatively balanced state.

Farmers tend to hold onto prices, while new buyers are cautious, resulting in sluggish trading but also making it difficult for prices to fall sharply.

Rice prices today, August 9, 2026: Market unlikely to rise sharply.

VHO – Rice prices on August 9, 2026 are forecast to remain relatively stable, with fresh paddy possibly increasing slightly in some areas, while raw rice and export prices continue to be volatile, with slow trading.

Fresh paddy prices are likely to remain stable on August 10, 2026. IR 50404 is currently trading at 6,300 – 6,400 VND/kg, higher than the levels of previous sessions and showing no clear downward pressure.

OM 5451 is projected to maintain a price range of 6,700 – 6,850 VND/kg. This is one of the varieties that has the potential to maintain a good price if local purchasing demand increases slightly.

Dai Thom 8 and OM 18 are currently priced at 6,900 – 7,000 VND/kg. If farmers maintain stable prices, these two varieties may continue to remain stable or increase by about 50 VND/kg in areas with good demand.

OM 34 is likely to continue trading sideways in the range of 6,100 – 6,300 VND/kg.

Farmers are holding up prices, but traders are still buying slowly.

In An Giang , fragrant rice is entering its peak harvest season. However, the increased supply has not yet put significant pressure on prices because many farmers are reluctant to sell at low prices.

In Dong Thap, Can Tho, Ca Mau , Vinh Long, and Tay Ninh, trading activity is also quite slow. Traders mainly purchase according to actual needs, rarely accumulating large quantities of goods.

The wait-and-see attitude of both buyers and sellers makes it unlikely that the market will experience significant fluctuations on August 10, 2026.

In the category of raw rice intended for export, the market is projected to remain stable.

IR 504 is likely to remain in the 9,700 – 9,800 VND/kg range. CL 555 is maintaining the 9,750 – 9,850 VND/kg level, with no strong enough signals to form a new upward trend yet.

OM 5451, OM 18, and Dai Thom 8 are also likely to trade sideways as businesses remain cautious about new orders.

The fact that raw rice prices remain stable while fresh paddy prices remain high indicates that the profit margins of milling and exporting businesses continue to face certain pressures.

Prices of by-products are relatively stable.

The byproduct group does not yet have any new elements that could create significant fluctuations.

Fragrant rice is expected to remain at around 8,600 – 8,700 VND/kg, while the price of rice bran will fluctuate between 7,700 – 7,850 VND/kg.

Jasmine rice prices decreased, while retail rice prices remained generally stable.

At retail markets, the prices of most rice products remained stable.

Notably, Jasmine fragrant rice decreased by approximately 500 VND/kg, falling to 16,500 – 17,500 VND/kg. This is one of the few items showing significant price fluctuations in the retail rice group.

Nang Nhen rice continues to have the highest price among the surveyed group, at approximately 28,000 VND/kg.

Jasmine rice remains at 22,000 VND/kg, Thai long-grain fragrant rice is around 20,000 – 22,000 VND/kg, and Nang Hoa rice is at 21,000 VND/kg.

Dai Thom rice is priced between 15,000 and 16,000 VND/kg, OM 18 rice is around 15,000 to 16,000 VND/kg, while Japanese rice remains at approximately 22,000 VND/kg.

The price of rice is typically in the range of 13,500 – 14,500 VND/kg.

Rice prices remain stable.

The glutinous rice segment has not seen any significant changes.

Fresh IR 4625 glutinous rice is currently priced at 7,300 – 7,500 VND/kg, while dried 3-month glutinous rice is traded at around 9,600 – 9,700 VND/kg.

On August 10, 2026, the price of glutinous rice is likely to remain stable due to a relatively balanced supply and demand.

Forecast for rice export prices on August 10, 2026

Fragrant rice with 5% broken grains500 – 510Stable

On the export market, Vietnamese rice prices are forecast to remain stable on August 10, 2026.

100% broken fragrant rice maintained a price of around 367-371 USD/ton. 5% broken fragrant rice continued to trade in the 500-510 USD/ton range, while Jasmine rice remained at 541-545 USD/ton.

Current price levels indicate that Vietnamese rice remains relatively expensive in some segments, especially fragrant rice and Jasmine rice.

However, the stagnation of export prices also indicates that the market has not yet received any new impetus from import demand.

Competitive pressure remains.

Thai 5% broken rice is currently priced at around $450-$454 per ton, while 100% broken rice ranges from $377-$381 per ton.

In India , 5% broken rice is priced at around $361-$365 per ton, and 100% broken rice is at approximately $292-$296 per ton.

Compared to major competitors, some Vietnamese rice varieties still command significantly higher prices.

This reflects both the advantage of the high-quality rice segment and puts pressure on businesses in orders where price is a decisive factor.

Rice price forecast for August 10, 2026

In the short term, the most likely scenario is that the market will continue to trade sideways.

Fresh rice prices are supported by farmers’ price-fixing sentiment, while traders have not yet significantly increased new purchases. Therefore, prices are unlikely to fall sharply, but there is also no basis for a strong, widespread increase.

OM 5451, Dai Thom 8, and OM 18 may hold their prices better due to being in the group of high-demand varieties.

In the raw rice group, key varieties such as IR 504, CL 555, and OM 5451 are likely to maintain their current price range.

Export rice prices are also forecast to remain stable. Import demand from major markets will be the key factor determining the next trend.

If exports improve, domestic rice prices may be supported. Conversely, if supply from the harvest continues to increase while purchasing power does not improve, downward price pressure may become more apparent.

Overall, rice prices on August 10, 2026 are likely to remain stable, with the market fluctuating and lacking the impetus for a sharp increase.

The price levels for August 10, 2026 in the forecast section are reference ranges based on current market developments; actual prices may vary by location and time of trading.
