Rice, pork prices down in early July

THE average retail prices of rice and pork dropped nationwide in early July, while several other commodities posted mixed movements, according to the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA).

Well-milled rice sold for P49.30 per kilogram in the first phase (July 1-5), down from P49.67/kg in mid-June and P50.02/kg in early June. Still, this was higher than year-ago levels of P41.28/kg (mid-July 2025) and P41.57/kg (early July 2025).
Fresh pork kasim retailed at P339.43/kg in early July, down from P342.14/kg in late June and P342.48/kg in early June. It was also lower than year-ago prices of P372.35/kg and P374.89/kg in mid- and early July 2025, respectively.
Galunggong (round scad) rose to P237.69/kg in early July from P229.30/kg in late June, and was likewise higher than the P220.00/kg and P216.01/kg recorded in mid- and early July 2025. However, it remained below the P240.22/kg in early June this year.
Tomatoes climbed to P97.05/kg in early July from P84.49/kg in mid-June and P89.55/kg in early June, and were also higher than the P76.61/kg and P78.33/kg in mid- and early July 2025.
Hawaiian ginger was more expensive at P161.53/kg in early July from P159.51/kg in late June, but remained below its early-June price of P181.52/kg and year-ago levels of P183.28/kg and P184.97/kg.
Calamansi fell to P100.73/kg in early July from P103.17/kg in late June and P122.27/kg in early June, though this was still higher than the P89.80/kg and P92.37/kg a year earlier.
Refined sugar averaged P82.53/kg in early July, down from P82.82/kg in mid-June and from year-ago prices of P84.68/kg and P84.85/kg. It was slightly higher, however, than the P82.42/kg recorded in early June this year.
