Rice exports to the Chinese market continue to increase sharply

The Ministry of Agriculture and Environment said that the export turnover of agricultural, forestry and fishery products in 6 months reached 35.88 billion USD, an increase of 6% compared to the same period last year.

The export value of agricultural, forestry and fishery products (NLTS) in June 2026 of Vietnam is estimated at 6.34 billion USD, an increase of 3% compared to the previous month and an increase of 10.1% compared to the same period last year.

Accumulated in the first 6 months of 2026, the total export value of NLTS is estimated at 35.88 billion USD, an increase of 6% compared to the same period last year. Accumulated in the first 6 months of 2026, Vietnam’s NLTS trade balance is estimated to have a surplus of 9.2 billion USD.

In which, the export value of agricultural products reached 18.59 billion USD, up 0.2%; the export value of livestock products reached 375.8 million USD, up 34.6%; the export value of seafood reached 5.7 billion USD, up 11.4%; the export value of forestry products reached 9.2 billion USD, up 4.6%; the export value of production inputs reached 2.01 billion USD, up 79.6%; the export value of salt reached 7.7 million USD, up 39.8%.

Asia is the largest export market for Vietnam’s main agricultural products with a market share of 44.4%. The next 2 major markets are America and Europe with market shares of 21.4% and 14.4% respectively. Compared to the same period last year, the estimated value of Vietnam’s main agricultural products exports in the first 6 months of 2026 to the Chinese market increased by 23.1%, Japan increased by 1.6%, while the United States decreased by 3.6%.

Some key export items in the first 6 months of the year continue to be seafood, coffee, rice, vegetables and fruits…

In which, the total volume and value of rice exports in the first 6 months of 2026 reached 5.2 million tons and 2.38 billion USD, an increase of 9.9% in volume but a decrease of 2.5% in value compared to the same period in 2025. The Philippines is Vietnam’s largest rice consumption market with a market share of 45%. China and Ghana are the next two major markets with market shares of 19.4% and 8.5% respectively. Compared to the same period last year, the value of rice exports to the Philippines market decreased by 3.8%, the Ghana market decreased by 24.7%, while the Chinese market increased by 87%.

Vietnam’s vegetables and fruits are mainly exported to the Chinese market with a market share of 51.2% of total export value. The next two major markets are the United States and South Korea with market shares of 8.4% and 5.1% respectively. The export value of vegetables and fruits in June 2026 is estimated at 882.4 million USD, bringing the total export value of vegetables and fruits in the first 6 months of 2026 to 3.65 billion USD, an increase of 17.7% compared to the same period in 2025.

Seafood export turnover continued to have impressive growth with June 2026 estimated at 1.03 billion USD, bringing the total value of seafood exports in the first 6 months of 2026 to 5.7 billion USD, an increase of 11.4% compared to the same period in 2025. China, the United States and Japan are the 3 largest seafood consumption markets of Vietnam.
