Rice exports: The government has issued an important update on the country’s rice export ban. In fact, the government clarified today that exporters who have paid export duty before the announcement of the rice export ban on July 20 will be allowed to ship this shipment. The government has given a big update regarding the ban on export of rice in the country. In fact, the government today clarified that the exporters who have paid the export duty before the notification of the ban on rice export was issued on July 20, will be allowed to send that consignment.

On July 20, the government banned the export of non-Basmati white rice to boost domestic supply. While notifying this restriction decision, DGFT mentioned certain consignments that can be exported.

Export of non-Basmati white rice will be allowed if the export duty is paid before 21:57:01 pm on July 20, 2023, the directorate said in a notification dated August 29.

It said that if the consignment is handed over to Customs before 21:57:01 hrs on July 20 and is registered in the Customs system for export before this specified time or in the electronic system of the concerned custodian of the Customs station Those consignments registered in India will be allowed till October 30.

More recently, the government has decided not to export Basmati rice below US$1,200 (about Rs 100,000) per tonne. The decision is to stop the export of rice varieties other than Basmati rice.

The central government has directed APEDA not to register contracts worth less than $1,200 per tonne. According to the government, these steps are being taken to control the prices of rice in the domestic market.
