Rice exports for Indonesian hajj pilgrims in Saudi Arabia begins

Jakarta, IO – Sacks of rice are carried at a warehouse of Perum Bulog in Kelapa Gading, Jakarta (Mar. 4). The Indonesian Government has begun exporting rice to Saudi Arabia to meet the consumption needs of Indonesian pilgrims during the 2026 hajj season. Through Perum Bulog, a total of 2,280 tons of premium rice will be shipped in stages.

The export dispatch took place at the Bulog warehouse in Kelapa Gading, Jakarta, and was attended by Amran Sulaiman, Dyah Roro Esti Widya Putri, Abdul Kharis, Jaenal Effendi and Sarwo Edhy.

Total rice exports for hajj needs this year amount to 2,280 tons, adjusted to the estimated number of Indonesian pilgrims, around 215,000 people. For the shipping process, Bulog has partnered with three domestic and international shipping companies, using three separate vessels to ensure smooth and timely distribution. (IO/Faisal Ramadhan)
