Indonesia’s rice stock set to hit record in 2025

Statistics Indonesia earlier reported that potential domestic rice production this year is estimated at 34.79 million tonnes, up 4.17 million tonnes or 13.6% from 30.62 million tones in 2024.

Jakarta (VNA) – Indonesian Minister of Agriculture Andi Amran Sulaiman said on December 22 that the government’s rice reserve (CBP) is projected to reach 3.5 million tonnes by the end of 2025, marking the highest level since the country’s independence.

The country’s rice stock is secure as the figure surpasses the previous peak of around 2 million tonnes, which included imports, the minister said.

He stressed that at present, without imports, the nation’s stock is 3.5 million tonnes — the highest ever. It has a rice surplus, so there will be no problems until Ramadan.

Sulaiman urged businesses not to manipulate rice prices, stressing that national supplies are more than adequate.
